A-P. Cakes
From Mom

3 c brown sugar
1 c shortening
1 egg
1 c milk
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
6 c flour

Grease pans lightly.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix sugar, shortening, and egg.  Mix well.

Then add rest of ingredients.  Mix together well.

Put in pans and bake for 35 minutes.  Makes 4 cakes.

(I think the cakes were about 5-6" across, and 1-1 1/2" deep?)
